About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

24 hr twov. Im an Australian travelling from south korea to shanghai pudong airport

staying 7hrs, then flying to Australia. Is the 24 hour twov application centre at pudong? Is the centre before customs or...because right now I don't have a visa for china, wondering if there would be problems in entering, even if its just for a short stay before my flight to Aus.

Pudong as of this year has been very strict on issuing 24-hour TWOV permits and many people's applications were turned down. What's worse is that all non-Chinese travel document holders are now required to have their fingerprints taken before going through immigration which can add an hour or two to the already-long wait. You can always try your luck at immigration, but based on past reports, a 7-hour layover without a hotel reservation is not enough to persuade the officer to issue you a permit. The dedicated immigration line is behind the fingerprinting counters.
