Single visa entry to China

Hi! I'll be visiting China this summer. I have a single entry chinese entry permit. Is visiting Honk Kong consider like leaving China because it's a Special Administrative Region? Will I be able to go back to Beijing for my next flight after my stay in Hong Kong?

Visiting Honk Kong would be considered leaving China, but if your trip will be HK-Beijing(within 144 hours)-Canada, you can use the free transit in Beijing, and you single entry visa will be fine for your trip.
