Resident permit problem

My so is currently in Shanghai visit his girlfriend, he has been offered an internship in Shanghai and was going to register at a language school in the evenings. The company has told him he needs to get a student visa to get his residents papers but he has now been told the evening school is not acceptable and it must be a university course to get the required papaers, yet there are no part time uni courses that would allow him to work as well.

Hi, if your son want to study in mainland China, he can try to change the current visa into a student X type at the exit and entry administration of the local PSB within China. If it can succeed, he can ask the school or the local PSB if he can do the internship in Shanghai. Just give it a try.
