About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

Residence permit appliation on a S1 and S2 visa

Hello, everyone!

My family will come to China this month - my spouse and child should get S1 issued, my mother-in-law a multi-entry S2 of yet-to-be determined validity/duration. My question is - What documents are required for S1 holders to apply for a residence permit? I am employed here/came on a Z, if that is of any importance.... S2 holder need simply register at the local police station upon arrival, correct?

Thanks in advance!
Olie

You are correct that S2 type holder needs simply register at the local police station upon arrival. To apply for a Chinese residence permit, the S1 type holder should provide passport and its copy, the application form, a passport-style photo, health certificate, marriage certificate, and the child's birth certificate as well as an invitation letter and copies of your passport and residence permit.
