About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Question regarding 72 hr/144 hr visa

We are flying from Mandalay, Myanmar to Shanghai PVG (spending 1 day) and then flying back to USA the next day. But in between Mandalay and Shanghai the plane connects for about 4 hours in Kunming. Question is whether we can apply for the 72hr or 144hr free transit when landing in Shanghai for our 2 your kids??? (Note - we already have a 10 yr visa but our kids do not). Please let us know thank you

They do not qualify for 72 or 144 hours. Two stops in China limits you to 24 hours transit without visa, from scheduled arrival time in Kunming to scheduled departure time from Shanghai. If it's longer than 24 hours they need visas, or else you must change your flight.
