About:China Family Reunion Visa

What if I'm already in China?

I've been living in China for two years, currently I hold a X1 (with a residence permit, of course). I got married last week (she is a local girl, we've already got the Chinese marriage certificate).
In this article you've explained how to get a Q1 if you are currently living in your own country. So my question is, what should I do if I already stay in China? My student residence permit will expire at the end of July (i.e. after my graduation) and before it happens I would like to obtain a "family reunion" residence permit without leaving the country. In this case I can go directly to the Exit-Entry Administration Bureau of the city I live in, right? If yes, which documents I need to take with me when meeting with them?
Thanks in advance!

Fabian, it's possible for you to convert the X1 type into a work Z type within China, and you can go directly to the Exit-Entry Administration Bureau of the city you live in to do that. The required documents include your passport, the application form, a passport-style photo, Chinese residence permit, an invitation letter from your wife and copy of her Chinese ID card, as well as your marriage certificate, and other documents the consular officers consider necessary.
