About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do we need to apply for multiple entry or single entry is enough?

here's our itinerary:
Australia - stop over Guangzhou - JFK
Then JFK - Guangzhou for 7 days - Australia.

Single entry is enough if your first layover is under 72 hours.
