Can I apply for a Q1 Visa within China?

I am currently on a X (Student and my wife is Chinese. Can I apply for a Q1 here in China, or do I need to go abroad?

Hi, you can try to change the X type into a Q1 type at the exit and entry administration of the local PSB within China. If it can be done, there is no need to go abroad for that.
