Chinese tourist visa to Chinese student visa

I currently hold Chinese tourist L and will be traveling Korea and China during the summer. Once summer ends, I will be studying in China for a year. The university did not send me the admission letter and JW 202 yet; it will arrive later in May. Will I be able to apply for X1 in China with Canadian passport?

Hi, CS, after you get the admission letter and JW 202, you can try to change your current L type into a X type at the exit and entry administration of the local PSB within China. If it can be done, you don't need to leave China for that.
