Just married

I just got married to a Chinese citizen, so I believe I can’t apply for a permanent residence permit as we havent been married for 5 years. The people who say theyre getting a one year residence permit from being married to a Chinese citizen- are they referring to the temporary permit or the permanent one? Thanks.
