About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Will I need more than a single entry visa for China or can I exercise the 72hr free transit policy?

My gf and I are planning on going to China for a few weeks and then heading to Japan for a few weeks as well and then returning to Beijing to then fly back to the US. On our second visit to Beijing we are only planning on staying there for 48 hours before we head out back to the US. We are already planning on getting a single entry visa for our first stay in Beijing, but we would like to know if we would need a second one for our second arrival to Beijing (Japan to Beijing to US) if we are only planning on staying there for 48 hours. To summarize our trip will look like this: US to Beijing (2 weeks) to Japan (2 weeks) to Beijing (48 hours) to US. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

You can enjoy the 144 hr free transit for the trip Japan to Beijing to US, and no visa is required then.

Do not get the single entry Visa. It costs exactly the same as the 10 year multi entry visa that US Passport Holders are eligible for.
