How long do you have to be at a trainstation in China before departure?

Is there a difference between a big and a small town?

This website suggest me to reach the station 90min in advance or at least no less than 60min in advance for the ticket collection. If you have the paper ticket already, may 30 or 40min is OK. For small stations, I think it takes shorter time as there are less travelers in line.
