We are travelling in this area early may and would like to know something about the weather at that time of year.

Weather in May is warm in this area, sometimes even hot, so you can wear summer clothes. However, I do suggest you take a thin coat or a long-sleeve shirt as the temperature difference is big for the day and the night and also the temperatures drop when it rains.
