Luggage storage at Lanzhou Railway Station

Hello all, I am planning to arrive in Lanzhou in the morning and leave in the evening, both times via train. Is it possible to leave my luggage somewhere safe at the train station and collect it later that day? Do you think it is worth visiting Lanzhou just for a couple hours?
