About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

In Transit for a cruise. We are going to Shanghai in August for a cruise

and I was wondering if there is anything we have to do in our country to get a 24 hrs transit visa if we have US passports?

If you have confirmed reservation to travel Country A > Shanghai > Country B, you need to inform the cruise company or the airline that you want to use the free transit in Shanghai when you board the plane or cruise ship in Country A, then you can apply for the 24 hr direct transit after arrival at Shanghai.
