About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Flying back to home country from a third country

I am a US citizen and flying from USA to India. On way back (from India to USA/home country), can I take 72 hours visa-free transit in Beijing?

You can get up to 144 hour transit without visa as long as you only have one stop in China and the country you arrive from and depart to must be different country. So for example India > Beijing > Chicago for example would be eligible, any other stops inside china even if same place limits to 24 hours transit.
