About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Travel to Shanghai to join a cruise ship

I am flying to Shanghai (from USA) and upon arrival join a cruise ship to Beijing, korea, & Japan and then fly back to USA. Do I need a transit visa?

If your total layover time in Shanghai and Beijing is less than 24 hours, you don't need a visa. Otherwise, you should apply for a visa for that trip beforehand.
