French Citizen living in the USA, visiting in Shanghai for 24 hours - Visa needed?

Greetings!
I am a French National living in the USA.
I have to attend a meeting in Shanghai. I will be flying, alone, from the USA to Shanghai, attending the meeting and then returning less than 24 hours afterwards, back to the USA. So staying less than 24 hours stay in Shanghai.
Do I need a visa??
Many thanks for your help

USA-Shanghai-USA is not a transit, so you won't qualify for the free transit in Shanghai. Try to apply for a visa or change your travel itinerary.
