Is a visa required for Hong Kong (transit through Beijing)

We will be staying in Hong Kong for a week, transit through Beijing from UK. Thinking of flying from Hong Kong to Taiwan for a week before flying back to HK then back to UK. Would we need a visa for this trip?

You do not if Beijing is your only stop in Mainland China. British citizens are visa-exempt in HK and TW.
