Bali - Xiamen - Stay for 72 hours (German passport) - Thailand

I want to go from Bali to Xiamen (single trip), stay there for 72 hours (German passport) and go from there to Thailand (single trip). Is it possible or does is need to be a layover from Bali to Thailand?
