student visa to 10 year tourist visa

Hey there I am an American citizen who was attending college in China on a valid student X. However I will switch schools and cannot apply until next spring. How do I go about first getting a temporary travel visa?

Andrew, you can try to convert your X type in to L type for that. You may need to provide your passport, the completed application form, a recently-taken bareheaded color photo, registration form of temporary residence or residence permit, accommodation arrangement and the return ticket. Then, submit the application to the local PSB.
