In Chengdu for 24 hours

Hello,

My daughter and I, with American passports and my wife, with a South Korean passport, will be transiting from Hong Kong to Los Angeles via Chengdu. We have a 24 hour layover in Chengdu, do we need visas prior, or free transit requested at the airport?
