About:Embassy & Consulates of Switzerland in China

Hi. I’m traveling from MEL-LHR and have a 3.5 hour transit at CAN.

Do I need to collect my bags and go through customs?

No, you don't need to reclaim the baggage in CAN. But it is necessary to go through the customs.
