You can take a train from Beijing Railway Station to Wutaishan. The duration is 6-7.5h and the fare is CNY96.5 for a hard sleeper, CNY146.5 for a soft one. Three trains are available at 1:46, 17:12 and 22:23. After arrival, you can take a bus straight to the scenic area. As I know, the bus fare is CNY25 and it takes about 1h.
