Do I need a visa? VVR - Kunming - Nanjing - Sri Lanka

I am Canadian leaving yvr to kunming (20 hour layover - hotel booked to stay overnight) - brief layover nanjing then onwards to Sri Lanka...

There are no nonstop flights to Kunming from YVR so you need to find out where the inbound flight stops. If your total time spend in China is more than 24 hours (including the flight time from Kunming to Nanjing), you need a visa.
