Which visa is the best for me?

I'm going to move and live with my boyfriend in Shanghai. Beside from that, I'm also planning to find and to be a model as a career. I am an american citizen with U.S. passport. My biggest problem now is the entry permits. I also hope I can get a perminant residence permit. I'm so confused and frustrated of which way I can stay in China long-term in my situation. I meant which visa I should take that is the best for me.
Please help!
Thank you.

Hi, Angel, based on your situation, you are advised to apply for a tourist L type with 10-year validity. If it can be done, you are allowed to stay in mainland China for long time.

The L type could let me stay that long before renewing a new one again?

After you get the tourist L type, you can exit and enter China as many time as you can within the 10 years validity. But please note that the L type with 10-year validity is only good for a maximum stay of 60 days per trip, which means after each entry, you can stay in the country for up to 60 days at a time.

I tried not to go in and out of the country. Thats too draining for me.
Wouldn't F type be better?

If you intend to go to China for exchanges, visits, study tours and other activities, you can apply for the F type. Otherwise, you cannot get it.
