traveling to great wallterra cotta soldiers?

I plan on flying DFW-PEK-HKG-DFW.  Does this qualify  for the 72 or 144 Visa waiver? Am I allowed  to travel via car or train to the Great Wall and or Terra Cotta Soldiers?

Terra Cotta Soldiers is located in Xian. You are not allowed to travel to Xian when using the 144 hour free transit in Beijing. Thus, if you want to visit both the Great Wall and or Terra Cotta Soldiers, you should apply for a tourist L type in advance.
