About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transit at Shanghai

I will be arriving at Shanghai at 09.00 am and taking another plane to Manila at approx 16.00 on the same day. I plan to stay in the airport but will have to collect my bag from the first flight and take it to check in with Phillippine airlines for the second plane. I will return from Manila to Shanghai a week later for a 2 week stay in China on a group holiday. I am assuming I can use the 72 hour transit arrangement for the wait in Shanghai and just get an advance visa for my re-entry to start my 2 week holiday. Is this correct?
I understand I might need a yellow fever injection and certificate on my re entry to Shanghai because of returning from The Phillippines. Is that correct?

1) Correct. However, if you are a British citizen, you should request for a multiple-entry, two-year tourist visa to save time at immigration.
2) As the Philippines is not listed as a country within the yellow fever infection area, you do not need a yellow fever certificate.
