About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

24 Hour Free Transit SEA --> XMN --->NRT

I am planning on travelling between Seattle and Tokyo, the Flight i am on from Seattle includes a 2 hour "Technical Stop" in SZX before continuing on to XMN at that point I have a 12 hour layover in XMN and am continuing on to Tokyo the next morning.

The airline considers the "Technical Stop" not a layover and it is my understanding that you get off for 2 hours and are in a Quarantined area (for lack of a better word) before reboarding the plane and heading on to XMN. I would not be in China for more than 24 hours would I need a visa?

You would need a visa because SZX does not allow free transit.

The so-called "technical stop" is actually a full stop where you'll be going through immigration and customs. The plane will then continue to Xiamen as a domestic flight.
