I have a flight to Guangzhou from Dubai, staying for 30 hours and then moving on to Hong Kong. I’ll be getting the 72 hour free transit- is there a price for it, and also - how will I board the plane in dubai without a physical visa in my passport?

There's no price for the entry permit (not a visa). When checking-in, you need to verbally inform the agent that you are using 72-hour transit and provide your receipt of your onward ticket. Also you must fly from CAN to HKG.
