Problem 24 TWOV

Hello,

My partner (NZ passport) and I (German passport) flew from Hamburg (Germany) to Warsaw (Poland). Then we were supposed to fly from Warsaw to Beijing (have about 14 hours there) then fly to Chengdu (with the total time in China from landing in Beijing to leaving Chengdu below 24 hours) and to Auckland. We had confirmed seats for all those flights. Is this eligible for the 24 TWOV in China? As the total time in China was well below 24 hours we thought it was fine, but the airline we flew with (Polish Airlines LOT) did not let us enter the plane in Warsaw as they said they do not accept the 24 TWOV. Would be very thankful for your help.

Nele, sorry to hear that, but based on my understanding, your route is eligible for the 24 hour TWOV.

It is possible to settle this through court if you are living in a common law country. Not so sure about Europe though.

We are going to try and communicate with Polish airlines. Otherwise we will look at different options. It is very difficult though. Hopefully we can claim some money back, as we still feel we were right in the first place.
