About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Can I get 72 hour visa if flying UK to Beijing (direct)

then have single journey ticket to Hong Kong for 2 days later?

I want to know as my flight to Hong Kong from Beijing is with a different airline. So is it still classed as transit?
