About:Chinese Embassies and Consulates

Can I use this on both outbound and return flights to/from third country?

Eg:
US -> Shanghai (2 days stop) -> Japan -> Shanghai (another 2 day stop) -> US

Jr, yes, you can enjoy the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai in both directions.
