Do I need a China visa if starting cruise in Hong Kong w 1 stop in shanghai for 48 hours

We will be starting our cruise in Hong Kong will only stop in Shanghai for 2 days then go onto japan. Thanks

Liz, if so, you can enjoy the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai. There is no need to apply for a transit G type for that.
