About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I'm a French citizen with a French passport.

I have a ticket from AMSTERDAM to SYDNEY with 2 stops in China (AMS - PEK - CAN - SYD) this Thursday 18th January. So no time to apply for any visas obviously. I land at 6.55 am at PEK airport, fly from PEK to CAN same day at 8.30am arrives CAN at 11.45, fly from CAN to SYD at 18.20. So I stay less than 24 hours in China but fly domestic in-between my 2 international flights. Should I need a transit visa ? Or I qualify to this 24 hours free transit even with my 2 stops in China (as in the rules it says 1 or multiples stops), thank you very much for your help

I've got the same question. I'm flying from new zealand to guangzhou, beijing, after that to amsterdam. Both stops are only for 2,5 hours.. do I need a visa?

Hopefully someone can give us the right answer...

Kindly regards,
Hermien

Here is the current Timatic text, which is self-explanatory:

Transit incl. multiple stops within China (People's Rep.) is permitted at Guangzhou (CAN) only when the first transit point is Beijing (PEK). The total maximum transit time is 24 hours.

You might want to print the full Timatic output and highlight this paragraph, in case your check-in agent at Amsterdam has trouble finding it.

Hermien, you do need a visa, or you need to change your flights.
