I tried to apply for a 10-year multiple entries and exits permit at the Chinese agency in the Hong Kong airport but was DENIED. I will try to speak with the Chinese embassy in Hong Kong to inquire the reason for this result. I am a US citizen with a squeaky clean record. I understand that it doesn't matter if you do or how much you love China; all that matters is going through the proper channel and obeying the procedures. My question for this forum is: Will I have any difficulty or will I be denied a 144-Hour Visa-Free Transit in China because I was denied the 10-year tourist L type?

The condition for issuing visas in HK for non-HKID holders are stricter than applying in your home country and many applications are denied. You should have no problem using free transit though.

The whole thing was a nightmare. If only the visa agency at the Hong Kong airport could of told me what you just did I wouldnt have felt like shit that day or cancel my non refundable flight I had in China or my non-refundable hotel stay or going to the lo wu train station and losing a whole day trying to pass to get to China. Yea, why would they? They're just in it for the money but I will get the money back...in 3 months. Thank you for replying. One last question if you don't mind. I still need a Chinese tourist visa. What are the chances of getting that visa now that I have been denied? Also, if I get the Chinese visa, can I get a work visa if I decide to live and work in China?

If you submit your application back home it should be pretty easy to get a tourist visa. Work visas are much harder and require you finding a company willing to sponsor you.
