About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Flying from Hong Kong to Beijing then back home to NYC

I'm currently in China on a single entry visa with a departure date for Jan. 29 to NYC. Question is, can I schedule a trip to Hong Kong on the 23rd and return on the 29th to Beijing to catch my original flight back to NYC?

Thanks.

Orlando, yes, you can. When you enter Beijing on January 29th, you can enjoy the free transit there.

Great. Thanks for your quick reply! I assume I could also make use of the 72 hour free transit within Beijing (US Passport) if I land on Beijing the day before I leave?

You get one on the inbound trip to HK and another on the return from HK. They may give trouble when trying to leave the airport on transit of less than 8 hours
