Quit university study before time

Hi everyone,
I am currently in China on a X2 type and supposed to study here in Beijing until May. (From January 11th to
I have a family emergency and I need to go back home. I heard and read the some universities state on their websites that if you suspend your studies you need to change your Temporary Resident Permit to a L (touristic) Visa? My Temporary Resident Permit is valid until June 2018, can I just leave with that China to go back to my country?
