About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hey, i have a flight in march to new zealand via china and was wondering if i can take this visa

On the way to shanghai i stop in peking but only for 2 hours so i wouldnt actually enter china as i wouldnt exit the terminal. I then fly to shanghai where i will stay 2 nights. From there i travel onwards to new zealand.
I would only enter and exit china from shanghai airport so was thinking the visa would apply but i have been told because of the 2 hour stop over in peking it will not work even though i would not leave the terminal in peking.
And information would be amazing .

You need a visa. Two stops in China immediately limits you to 24 hours direct transit.

You don't have a choice of not entering in Beijing. Everyone is considered to be entering the country, even for a simple transfer. The flight to Shanghai is considered a domestic flight.
