About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Hi, I had a stopover in Beijing on the 22nd December. 8 hrs.

I had a tour to forbidden city booked. I got to the counter for the transit without visa at 6am. My flight arrived at 4:30am and my outgoing flight to London was at 12:30pm.

I filled in the form and told them I had a tour booked. They denied me entry. Said I had to have 10 hrs minimum before my flight. Which I know isn’t true, because when I called and cancelled my tour. They told me they had other booking with less then the 8 hrs I had who had no issues.

At the end of my trip I have 2 days in Beijing, I’m concerned the same could happen again. I arrive at 12pm on 7th January and I fly out on the 9th at 1:45am.

There have been reports saying that you must have a minimum of 8 hours between the time you clear immigration and the outbound flight's scheduled departure time to qualify for the 24-hour entry permit. In your case it's not even close. However, if your information is not in the system yet then there should be no problem for your return flight since it's obviously longer than 8 hours.
