Hi, the scenery in Mar. can be good. In particular, you can take good pictures in the afternoon. However, it may rain frequently at that time, which more or less will influence your outdoor activities. I suggest you recheck the weather before going. Train is not available from Kunming. You can take a long-distance bus from the South Bus Station to Xinjie Town, YY. Then take a taxi or hire a local van to arrive at the rice terrace.

Nov. – the next Mar. is the best period, as I know. Besides the rice terraces, you can also pay a visit to Jingkou Folk Village, Shengcun Village, and Azheke Village. They can be arranged within a day. As for hotels, you can stay near YY Rice Terraces. Hotels like Wukong Youth Hostel, Wanshan Holiday Inn, and Jingkou Inn are recommended.
