About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I would like to ask if I can apply for 144 hour free transit visa in this case:

Auckland - Shanghai(144 hours free transit) - Japan - Shanghai (transit only) - Auckland
Question. If we are in Shanghai, could we take a train to Beijing and back to Shanghai by train departure by plane?

Regards
Jef

You cannot go to Beijing unless you have a Chinese visa. If you stay in the Shanghai area, you don't require it.
