Can I apply for a Q1 visa while residing in China?

I'm currently living in China with my wife, we were married around two months ago.

I have an L type at the moment and I'm looking to change it to a Q1 type,
What's the best way to do this?

Francis, it is possible for you to change the L type to Q1 type within China.
First, you need to provide passport, a completed application form, a passport-style photo, an invitation letter from your wife and copies of her Chinese ID card, as well as your marriage certificate.
Next, submit the application to the exit and entry administration of the local PSB to convert the L type to Q1 type.
