Transit Visa, what visa and documentation do I need?

Hi,

I'm a Sri Lankan passport holder and US permanent resident. If I want to transit in china for about 12 hours onward to Japan

To apply for a Chinese transit G type in the USA, you should prepare all the required documents including passport and its copy, a completed application form attached with a passport-style photo, residence permit in there, and transportation arrangement.
