About:China Transit Visa

24 hour direct transit visa. Do i need to bring a form or photographs ?

we are traveling from US to Vietnam with 18 hour layover in Shanghai. I understand I dont need a visa, I can apply for the direct transit permit, is that correct?

You are right that you can apply for the direct transit permit at the Shanghai airport. You can go there directly by bringing your passport, the onward ticket and full completed Arrival/Departure Card which you filled on the plane for that. Nice trip.
