About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

We fly into Shanghai overnight and depart next morning to Japan, will we have a problem?

Hello, I'm an American who lives and works at a U.S. military base in Japan, so my family and I don't have visas to be in Japan. We are heading to Australia to go on a cruise for the holidays. Our return flight has us arrive in Shanghai around 9pm and depart for return to Japan at 8am. After checking to see if we need an entry permit for China, we don't, I discovered that China may require us to have a Japanese entry permit. Is this something I should worry about or should we not leave the airport once we arrive Shanghai? Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi, Lee, if your travel route is Australia-Shanghai(144 hours)-Japan, you will qualify for the free transit program, and you don't have to show Japan visa to apply for that. After you get the free transit, you can leave the airport then. No need to worry.
