Can the consulate issue me a travel document ?

Hello greetings!!! I have been invited to do business in Myanmar. Unfortunately there's no Myanmar embassy in my country, Mexico!! So I have decided to flight to China and apply In Beijing, at the Myanmar consulate. knowing that the consulate will keep my passport how can I do to travel inside China? I will stay one whole week in China and would like to go other places and visit some friends but not only in Beijing.
Help please. Any information will be kindly appreciated
