About:Datong Travel

Hi, is there a way to go directly from Pingyao county (ancient town) to Hanging Temple?

Trying to find a way that will bypass Datong.
Is it possible to see Yungang grottoes and Hanging Temple in just one day without a guide?

As I know, train is the only direct transport from Pingyao to DT. It leaves at 7:28, 12:58, and 15:19. It takes about 6h 30 minutes-8h, CNY110/115/123 for a hard sleeper, CNY178/166.5 for a soft one.
After arrival, you can take Tourist Bus Brt603 to the grottoes. Then you can take a local car from grottoes to the temple, which costs CNY150 or so for a single trip. You can share the fare with other visitors.
You can visit the two within 1 day without a guide.
