About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

74 hours in Beijing.

I’m a US citizen. I’m traveling from the US to India via Beijing. I land in Beijing 6:30pm on 12/19 and depart 8:30 pm on Decement 22. That’s 74 hours. Does that mean I have to get a visa. I’m hoping my hour count starts at 12:00am on Dec 20th.

Beijing measures the 72 hours from scheduled arrival time to scheduled departure time. So you should apply for a visa in advance because your total layover is more than 72 hours.
