Hi, my friend is a us citizen and having a layover at Shanghai for 16hour and he wanna see the place, can he go out from the airport without transit visa? Or he need to go to Chinese embassy to get 24 hours free transit ? Please advise. Thank you 😊

Hi, he can get the 24 hour direct transit at Shanghai airport and a free temporary stay permit at the immigration office inside the airport. Afterwards, he can leave the airport to explore the city.
